Title: Clinical evaluation on effect in prevention of deciduous teeth caries by using triclosan toothpaste
Abstract: Objective The aim of this clinical study was to observe and evaluate the clinical effect in prevention of deciduous teeth caries by using triclosan toothpaste.Methods Children aged 4.0~4.5 in kindergarten were chosen as subjects.They were randomly divided into 2 groups according to their toothpaste.After 3-month elution period,every child was brushed with triclosan toothpaste or control paste respectively.Dmfs were examined on baseline,after 6 months,12 month and 18 months.Results The incidence of childhood caries was 54.14%.At baseline,the caries states showed no difference between test group and control group,meanwhile,and there was no significant difference in dmftd between test group and control,but the change of dmfts showed significant difference between these two groups both after application of triclosan toothpaste for 12 months and 18 months.Conclusion The application of triclosan toothpaste is efficient in prevention of caries of deciduous teeth.
