Abstract:Objective: To compare the influences of clozapine and risperdal on quality of life of schizophrenics and their care-givers Method: Double blinded randomized study was done in 162 schizophrenic outpati...Objective: To compare the influences of clozapine and risperdal on quality of life of schizophrenics and their care-givers Method: Double blinded randomized study was done in 162 schizophrenic outpatients (82 with risperdal, 80 with clozapine) GQOLI (general quality of life inventory) and PANSS (positive and negative symptom scale) were used as research instruments The caregivers of patients were also received assessment of quality of life Results: The quality of life of care-givers was significantly lower than norm (P0 01) The caregivers and schizophrenics in risperidone group had better quality of life than their counterparts in clozapine group There was significant positive correlation between quality of life of care-givers and that of the patients Conclusion:Risperidone will help to improve not only quality of life of schizophrenics, but also that of their caregiversRead More
