Title: FOUR NEW SPECIES OF THE GENUS PHYTOSEIUS RIBAGA(ACARINA: PHYTOSEIIDAE)
Abstract: This paper reports four new species of the genus Phytosews, one of them belongs to the subgenus Pennaseius and three to the subgenus Phytoseius. The dorsal setal nomenclature is based on the system of Eowell et al. (1978). The type specimens of new species are deposited in the Department of Biology, Fudan University.1. Phytoseius (pennaseius) wuxianensis, sp. nov. (figs. 1-6)This species is similar to P. (P.) hongkongensis, but setae z4 much longer than z2, without a large notocephalic pore posterior to z5 as in P. hongkongensis, and pari-treme shorter.Holotype , Dongshan, Wuxian County, Jiangsu Province, 6. VII. 1979, on Citrus.2. Phytoseius (Phytoseius) scabiosus, sp. nov. (figs. 7-12)This species belongs to taiyusham group (Denmark 1966), but its setae s4 is much longer than that of other known species in this group, and the length of s4 is about twice the distance between the bases of setae s4 and s6, besides, it has setae z4 serrated and two pairs of preanal setae.Holotype , Baoshan, Shanghai, 13. VII. 1979, on Glycine soja. Paratypes: 4, Shanghai, 24. VII. 1979, on Ligustrum lucidum; 3, Lishui, Jiangsu Province, 6. IX. 1979, on Castanea bungeana; 1, Linyi, Shandong Province, 20. VIII. 1980, on Safe babylonica.3. Phytoseius (Phytoseius) mori, sp. nov. (figs. 13-18)This species belongs to macropilis group (Denmark 1966) and is similar to P. woodburyi, but length of j3 longer than distance between the. bases of j3 and j4, and length of maeroseta on genu of leg IV only one-third of that on tibia.Holotype , Jiangwan, Shanghai, 26. V. 1978, on Morus alba, Allotype , data same as for holotype. Paratypes 11 1, Chongming, Shanghai, 26. V. 1978, on Ulnus chenmovi.4. Phgtoseius (Phytoseius) shanghaiensis, sp. nov. (figs. 19-25)This species belongs to taiyushani group (Denmark 1966), but readily differs from other known species in this group in having a notch on the dorsal shield at the base of r3 and differs from P. taiyushani and P. scarbiosus in having 3 pairs of preanals.Holotype , Shanghai Botanical Garden, 10. XI. 1979, habitable plant unknown.
