Title: Research on Propagation Characteristics and Location of Burst Acoustic Emission Signal Traveling Along Pipeline
Abstract: The conventional NDT methods, such as ultrasonic, flux leakage and eddy current method, could only detect static defects on components. To solve the problem,a dynamic defect detection method based on Acoustic Emission(AE) was investigated in this paper A stainless pipe, approximately 15 m in length and 100 mm in diameter was used in crack detection and position experiments.Propagation and attenuation characteristics of AE wave traveling along the pipe and passing different geometry structures of the pipe were measured, and its negative effect on positioning of the defects was analyzed.Several compensation methods, such as time parameters compensation, measured velocity compensation, and attenuation compensation, were adopted to compensate the calculation results of position of the defects.
