Title: Study on Shaping Property of Mg-Al-Zn-Nd Magnesium Alloy
Abstract: Hot compression tests of AZ31B-0.8Nd magnesium alloy were performed on Gleeble-1500D at the strain rate range of 0.01~1s-1 and temperature range of 300~450℃ under the maximum strain of 70%.The relationship between the true stress and the true strain and that between the deformation temperature and microstructures of the tested alloy were investigated during hot-compression processes. The results show that the peak flow stress becomes larger with the increasing strain rate at the same temperature, and gets smaller with the increasing deformation temperature at the same strain rate;at the same strain rates and deformation temperatures, the compressing stress of the sample with as-extruded is much lower than that of the sample with as-cast;the compressed amount does not apparently affect the relationship between the compressing stress strain under the same deformation conditions. The mechanism of dynamic softening of the Mg alloy in hot testing deformation is attributed to be the dynamic recrystallization. The temperature range of 400~450℃ is suggested for hot deformation of this alloy.As-extruded alloy is more easier for extrusion forming than as-cast alloy and is attributed to refine grain.
