Title: Simulation of fresnel circular aperture diffraction using MATLAB
Abstract: MATLAB software has powerful computing and visualization capabilities, one can simulate the results of optical experiments more accurately, and make the complex, abstract optical phenomena become concrete, and intuitive one. Fresnel circular aperture diffraction intensity distribution has been simulated based on MATLAB programming. The result shows that the diffraction pattern consists of a series of concentric rings of light and dark. The diffraction pattern structure(the number and order of light and dark rings) is determined by the corresponding half- wave band number k of the center point of the viewing screen. If k values are the same, the radius of the diffraction rings is uniquely determined by the Fresnel circular aperture radius. Whether k is odd or even, the center spot radius of circular aperture diffraction patterns are in line with the radius of the formula of Airy spot radius of Fraunhofer circular aperture diffraction.
