Title: Ischemic preconditioning using the transthoraces three-dimensional myocardial contrast echocardiography
Abstract: Objective To investigate ischemic preconditioning (IP) using the transthoraces three dimensional myocardial contrast echocardiography (3D MCE). Methods Anesthetized open chest canine models were established by ligating left anterior descent branch or left circumflex branch. They were divided to IP group(4 dogs)and Ischemic reperfusion(IR) group (5 dogs).3D MCE,using a sonicated 5% human albumin injected into the left atria, were performed on base level,4 hours after occlusion and 1 hour after reperfusion, with a transthoracic imaging transducer for three dimensional reconstruction. The results were compared with pathology dye by TTC.Results ① A close linear relation was noted between the mass of myocardium not showing contrast enhancement on 3D MCE during coronary occlusion and postmortem risk mass (r= 0.92 ,P 0.01 ).② Both MCE and TTC showed that the mass of infarct myocardium of IP group was less than the IR group. ③ In reperfusion stage, the mass of necrotic myocardium had no change in IP group (P 0.05 ) while increased in IR group (P 0.05 ).Conclusions 3D MCE can be used to study IP in vivo by determine the range of myocardial ischemia and myocardial infarction.
