Title: Improvement of Anxiety and Depression in Patients with Schizophrenia at Recovery Stage Via Education of Health Conviction Mode
Abstract: Objective To investigate the symptoms of anxiety and depression in patients with schizophrenia at recovery stage and assess the effect of education of health conviction mode. Methods One hundred and forty six patients with schizophrenia at recovery stage were randomly divided into observation group( n =74) and control group( n =72). The education of health conviction mode was carried out in observation group, while the conventional education of health was carried out in control group. Both groups were tested for their emotion disorders by self rating anxiety scale (SAS) and self rating depression scale (SDS) before and after the health education. Results The rates of anxiety and depression in patients with schizophrenia at recovery stage were higher than in normal people and inpatients of general hospital. The scores of SAS, SDS and the rate of symptoms of anxiety and depression in the observation group were significantly lower than in the control group (all P 0.05). Conclusion There existed the symptoms of anxiety and depression to varying degrees in patients with schizophrenia at recovery stage. The education of health conviction mode could improve the symptoms of anxiety and depression.
