Title: Diagnostic Value of Three-dimensional Volume Rendering in Rib Fracture Using 64-slice Spiral CT
Abstract: Purpose To compare the diagnostic value of three-dimensional volume rendering(3D VR)with X-ray film in rib fracture using 64-slice spiral CT.Materials and Methods 64-slice spiral CT and X-ray were performed in 100 patients with possible rib fracture after trauma, and 3D VR was applied with axial CT images.Sensitivity and specificity were calculated and compared between X-ray and CT.Results Ninety-one patients with 455 rib fractures were demonstrated based on axial CT images,89 patients with 454 rib fractures based on 3D VR,and 52 patients with 206 rib fractures based on X-ray.The sensitivity and specificity of 3D VR were 97.80%and 100.00%,and those of X-ray were 60.46%and 66.67%.Conclusion 3D VR of 64-slice spiral CT has high sensitivity and specificity compared with X-ray film, and has the advantages of easy localization and easy display of the rib fracture.
