Title: The application value of multi-slice spiral CT in the diagnosis of rib fractures
Abstract: Objective: To explore the application value of multi-slice spiral computed tomography(CT) in the diagnosis of rib fractures. Methods: Compared the results of X-ray photograph with which of the 16-slice spiral CT in 30 patients with thorax trauma. Results: 22 patients were diagnosed determinate rib fractures in the 30 patients,4 patients were diagnosed as suspicious rib fractures and 4 were normal. The total number of determinate rib fracture was 45,4 ribs were suspicious fracture. But 28 of them were diagnosed determinate fracture by CT-scan.The total number of determinate rib fractures was 62,which included 1 cartilage fracture.45 location rib fractures were determinately diagnosed in 22 patients by X-ray photograph, the cartilage fracture was not displayed, the depiction rate of rib fracture was 72.6%.However,the multi-slice CT scan could display the rib fracture nearly 100.0% by maximum intensity projection(MIP),curved planar reconstruction(CPR) and three dimension reconstruction(3D),at the same time 1 case of traumatic wet lung,1 case of pneumothorax and 5 cases of hemothroax were diagnosed. Conclusion: The 16-slice spiral CT significantly exceeds the X-ray photograph in the sides of the fracture display rate and the diagnosis of correspondence rate, which is a preferred method for diagnosing the complicated or severe case in the thorax trauma.
