Title: Clinical Trial of Compound Xiebai Capsule for the Treatment of Acute Exacerbation of Chronic Bronchitis
Abstract: Objective To make an objective evaluation of Compound Xiebai Capsule (CXC) in the treatment of the acute exacerbation of chronic bronchitis (AECB) with phlegm and heat stagnating the lung. Methods A randomized, double-blind, single-simulation, parallel positivedrug control trial was performed. The test group received oral use of CXC, 4 capsules per time, 3 times a day the control group received Qinbaohong Zhike Capsule, 2 capsules, 3 times a day. Treatment lasted 10 days. Results In test group, 32 cases were clinically controlled, 45 markedly effective, 34 effective and 9 cases ineffective; in the control group, 21 cases were clinically controlled, 54 markedly effective, 36 effective and 9 invalid. The effective rate and total effective rate were similar in the two groups (P 0.05); the relief of cough in the test group was superior to that in the control group in the fifth day after medication (P 0.05).There are 3 cases of leukopenia in test group, but it can restore normal without treatment. Conclusion Compound Xiebai capsule in the treatment of AECB with phlegm and heat stagnating the lung is safe and effective.
