Title: Curative effect of percutaneous vertebroplasty on metastatic vertebrotumors:in comparison with radiotherapy
Abstract: Objective To investigate the effect of percutaneous vertebroplasty(PVP) in pain management of metastatic vertebral tumors in comparison with radiotherapy. Methods Twenty-nine cases of osteolytic spinal metastases were treated with PVP(n=13),or radiotherapy(n=16).Analgesia effects were evaluated at 48 h,one week,2 weeks and 4 weeks after treatment. Results After PVP treatment, the rate of pain release was 84.61%(11/13) for 48 h—1 week,92.31%(12/13) for 4 weeks of PVP,and 0% for 48 h—1 week, and 62.50%(10/16) for 4 weeks of radiotherapy. Conclusion PVP is more effective than radiotherapy in pain management of metastatic vertebral tumors. The long-term curative effect needs further study.
