Title: Characteristics of Injury Death among Residents in Zoucheng City from 2004 to 2007
Abstract: Objective To describe the epidemiological characteristics of injury death and in order to provide scientific evidence for preventing and intervening injury in Zoucheng City. Methods Descriptive epidemiology was used to analyze surveillance data of injury death from 2004 to 2007 in Zoucheng City. Results Injury was the fifth cause of death which accounted for 12.72%. The average mortality rate of injury was 77.88 / 100 000. The ratio of injury mortality rates of male to female was 1.81∶1. Suicide (37.88 / 100 000) was the first cause of injury death, which was followed by traffic accidents (22.38 /100 000), falls (3.84/100 000), drowning (3.80 / 100 000). Suicide was the first injury in rural (81.27 / 100 000), traffic accidents was the first injury in city (5.61 / 100 000). Conclusion Injury has become one of major public health problems in Zoucheng City; suicide is the first cause of injury death. Some effective measures should be taken to prevent them.
