Title: The effect of indapamide on plasma ET-1 patients with hypertension
Abstract: Objective To research the change of ET-1 in patients with mild to moderate essential hypertension and the effect of this change on the development of essential hypertension, evaluate the effect of indapamide and its mechanism on essential hypertension. Methods Radioimmunoassay(RIA) was employed to measure plasma ET-1 in 30 patients with essential hypertension and 30 healthy persons as control. The results after 2 weeks treatment of indapamide for the patients were compared. Results The blood pressure of hypertensive patients dropped apparently(P0.01).The effective rate was 60%.Plasma ET-1 in patients with hypertension was higher than that in normal controls, which decreased after 2 weeks of treatment of indapamide(P0.001).Conclusion The level of plasma ET in patients with mild to moderate essential hypertension is higher than that in normal, which suggests that the change of ET in plasma in patients with primary hypertension plays an important role in the development of hypertension.Indapamide(2.5mg per day) has a remarkable efficacy on moderate primary hypertension by means of decreaseing ET-1 in plasma as well, which inhibits the development of primary hypertension.
