Title: On the Epoch Characteristics of Dian-Zhi-Ti Masterpieces in Late Qing Dynasty
Abstract: In the late Qing period,many prominent historians attached importance to the reform of Dian-Zhi-Ti books because new times needed push the progress of historiography,which had a profound necessity.Dian-Zhi-Ti books had two characteristics: first,they were rich in content and suitable for recording decrees and regulations and various social circumstances;secondly,they were quiet flexible in establishing contents so as to increase and decrease,to store new knowledge and to deliver new views.The reformed Dian-Zhi-Ti books became brilliant because they met the pressing demand of resisting invasion and learning from the west in the late Qing period when China was in a grave national crisis.The Brief Introduction of the World Over,Illustrated Annals of Overseas Countries and Annals of Japan wrote respectively by Wei Yuan,Xu Jiyu and Huang Zunxian had bright times traits and precious innovation and profound and lasting influence on exploring the way of saving country.
