Title: Catalytic Synthesis of Benzyl Propionate Using Phosphotungstic Acid and Its Salts
Abstract: Phosphotungstic acid and its salts were found to be efficient environmentally friendly catalysts for the synthesis of benzyl propionate.Reaction was conducted at 110 ℃ for 15 h with propionic acid and benzyl alcohol in mole ratio 12∶1 and 12% (based on mass of alcohol) of the catalyst was used.Under these optimum conditions yield of the ester was 976%.Mass fraction of the product was 100%.
