Title: β-Cyclodextrin in improving the extraction of total flavones from Choerospondias axillaris
Abstract: Objective To study the importance of β-CD in improving the extraction of total flavones(TFC) to further obtain an ideal extraction for TFC. Methods As an adjuvant material, β-CD was used in the traditional water and ethanol extraction of TFC, respectively. The obtained 2 extracts of TFC-β-CD complex were excluded. The total amount of TFC, dry extract,and the content percent age of TFC in the extract from the 2 extraction processes were compared with those from the simple ethanol extraction. Results The total amount of TFC from the 2 extraction processes were nearly similar to that from the simple ethanol extraction, with no significant difference(P 0.05). However, the dry extract amount from the new processes was markedly decreased and the percentage of TFC in the extract from the new extraction methods was significantly increased. There was a significant difference between the new process and the ethanol extraction process(P 0.01). Conclusion β-CD is valuable in the extraction of TFC.
