Title: A NEW GENUS OF SELENOCEPHALINAE (HOMOPTERA: CICADELLIDAE) WITH A NEW SPECIES FORM YUNNAN, CHINA
Abstract: A new genus- Omanellinus Zhang and a new species
Omanellinus populus Zhang of Paraboloponini, Selenocephalinae are described and
illustrated in this paper. The type specimens are deposited in the Entomological Museum of the
Northwestern Agricultural University (NWAU) except one female paratype in the Natural History
Museum in London, U. K. (NHM), where indicated separately. Omanellinus Zhang, gen. n.
Type species: Omanellinus populus Zhang, sp. n. This new genus resembles Omanella
Merino in general appearance but its male genitalia is different from the latter in: a) subgenital
plate without macrosetae, b) style broad with a finger shaped apical process, c) connective
curved downwards (ventrad), d) aedeagus tubular and somewhat tapering to apex. Its male
genitalia is more like Tenompoella Zhang et Webb but lacking the row of macrosetae on
subgenital plate, connective not bifurcate at apex and curved downward, and aedeagus with
paired basal processes. Omanellinus populus Zhang, sp. n.(Fig.1) Body length (with wings):
♂ 7.3 mm~7.8 mm, ♀ 8.0 mm~8.5 mm. General body characteristics are as the genus and
also shown in the figure in detail. Holotype: ♂(NWAU), Yunnan: Menglun, Xishuangbanna,
640m, 21/30-Ⅳ-1974, coll. Zhou Yao (Chou Io), Yuan Feng and Hu Yinyue; paratypes: 1
♀,same data as holotype; 1♂(NWAU), Jinghong, Xishuangbanna, 545m, 14~16/22~25-Ⅴ
-1974, coll. Zhou Yao (Chou Io) and Yuan Feng; 1♀(NHM), Mengla, Xishuangbanna, 670m, 1/5-
