Title: Clinical Features of Nosocomial Infections in Patients with Lung Cancer Receiving Chemotherapy and Analysis of the Risk Factors
Abstract: Objective To study the clinical features of nosocomial infections in patients with lung cancer receiving chemotherapy, and investigate the related risk factors. Methods A total of 118 patients with lung cancer treated with chemotherapy at Fangchenggang First People's Hospital during June 2010 and May 2012 were retrospectively investigated, the clinical features of nosocomial infections were described, and the potential risk factors of nosocomial infection were explored using statistical methods. Results 41. 5%( 49/118) of the patients suffered nosocomial infections during the process of chemotherapy, upper respiratory tract and lung were found as the primary sites of the infections, accounting for 85. 7%( 42 /49) of all the infections, fungi and Gram-negative bacteria were identified as the major pathogens, accounting for 84. 2%( 16/19) of the detected pathogens, the incidence of nosocomial infections was increased significantly in the patients with a low level of neutrophil( P 0. 05). Conclusion The rate of nosocomial infections in the lung cancer patients receiving chemotherapy is relative high, and a decrease of neutrophil may be correlated with a higher risk of nosocomial infections.
