Title: Clinical Treatment of Pediatric Asthma with Chronic Sinusitis and Analysis of Their Correlation
Abstract: Objective To study the influence of the treatment of chronic sinusitis to the curative effect of asthma, and to analyze the correlation of clinical characteristics between pediatric asthma and chronic sinusitis. Methods According to different treatment plans, 324 cases of pediatric asthma combined with chronic sinusitis were divided into 2 groups: only asthma was treated in group A, chronic sinusitis and asthma were treated at the same time in group B. The curative effect and the relationship between asthma and chronic sinusitis were retrospectively analyzed in groups A and B. Results The total effective rates of pediatric asthma and chronic sinusitis in group A were 80.79% and 21.85%, respectively. Spearman correlation analysis showed there was a significant positive correlation between the curative effects of pediatric asthma and chronic sinusitis in group A (rs=0.30, P0.01). The total effective rates of pediatric asthma and chronic sinusitis in group B were 97.69% and 98.27%, respectively. Spearman correlation analysis showed there was a significant positive correlation between the curative effects of asthma and sinusitis in group B (rs=0.37, P0.01). There were statistically significant differences in the effective rate of pediatric chronic sinusitis between groups A and B (χ2=201.20, P0.01), so did the effective rate of asthma (χ2=26.46, P0.01). Conclusions Asthma and chronic sinusitis may be manifestations of an inflammatory process within a continuous airway. The impact of chronic sinusitis to asthma is immense and significant in children. A favorable effect on patients with asthma and chronic sinusitis is attainable if the chronic sinusitis and asthma are treated at the same time.
