Title: Transcutaneous hepatic arterioles puncture and embolitic chemotherapy for hepatocellular carcinoma by the guidance of color Doppler ultrasonography
Abstract: Objective To evaluate the possibility and clinical value on transcutaneous hepatic arteriole puncture for embolitic chemotherapy (TAE) by the guidance of color Doppler ultrasonography (CDU).Methods Twelve punctures on 8 cases in middle or late stage of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) have been performed. Results THAP were all successful on those with arteriole lumen diameter ≥2 mm by recognization for tumor feeding arteries with CDU. Whereas drugs have exactly been injected into arterioles which were confirmed by CT scan. No any complication occured in whole group. Mean survival period was 7.5 months, and the longest one has been 13 months and the patient is still in life. Conclusions The HCC theraputic procedure with THAP TAE is a new, simple, safe and practical technique and should be study continuously.
