Title: The ratio of free to total prostate specific antigen: Role in screening for prostatic carcinoma
Abstract: Purpose:To evaluate the role of free/total PSA ratio in the screening of prostatic carcinoma. Methods:Rectal examination, B ultrasound, PSA, PSAD and free/total PSA ratio were used to screen prostatic carcinoma in 389 cases. Results:Among them, 15 cases of prostatic carcinoma was founded, and the sensitivity for cancer detection of free/total PSAratio was the same as PSA and PSAD, but it's specificity was statistically higher than that of PSA and PSAD, especially in the diagnostic gray zone of total PSA, free/total PSA ratio can differentiate prostatic carcinoma from benign patients readily.Conclusions:Free/total PSA ratio was a good parameter to screen prostatic carcinoma .
