Title: Study on wavefront aberrations in myopic anisometropia
Abstract: Objective To investigate the binocular differences of wavefront aberration in patients(120 eyes)with myopic anisometropia by wavefront aberration instrument. Methods A total of 60 patients(120 eyes)with myopic anisometropia were selected from August 2009 to February 2010 in Vision Science and Optometry Center of Guangxi.Binocular data of wavefront aberration were collected by WaveScan instrument(American AMO Company). The patients were divided into high and low refractive groups according to their relative refractive powers. The spherical equivalents were(-4.81±1.79)D in high refractive eye group and(-2.44±1.78)D in low refractive eye group. The differences of blurred vision, total higher order aberration(HOA),percentage of HOA,coma aberration, trefoil aberration and spherical aberration were compared between the two groups. Results In high and low refractive groups, blurred vision were(4.89±1.59)D and(2.78±1.72)D,total HOA were(0.38±0.15)μm and(0.38±0.15)μm,percentage of HOA were(5.13±2.34)%and(13.39±12.30)%,coma aberration were(0.21±0.14)μm and(0.19±0.11)μm,trefoil aberrations were(0.16±0.10)μm and(0.17±0.12)μm,spherical aberrations were(0.11±0.16)μm and(0.13±0.19)μm,respectively.Statistics showed significant differences in blurred vision and percentage of HOA between the two groups(both P0.01).But there was no significant differences in total HOA,coma aberration, trefoil aberration and spherical aberration(all P0.05).Conclusion Binocular HOA is similar in patients with myopic anisometropia, but there is obvious difference in percentage of HOA,which may be a potential risk factor for progress of myopic anisometropia.
