Title: Expression of Ki-67Antigen in Invasive Pituitary Adenomas
Abstract: Objective To investigate the relationship between the expression of Ki-67antigen and invasiveness in the pituitary adenomas.Method The MIB-1proliferating cell index(MIB-1PCI)in52case of invasive pituitary adenomas and35of non-invasive pituitary adenomas was obtained by counting the number of MIB-1-labeled nuclei made by a novel Ki-67monoclonal antibody MIB-1immunohistochemical reaction LSAB method. Results The MIB-1PCI levels in the invasive pituitary adenomas were significantly higher than that in the non-invasive pituitary adenomas(P0.05).And the MIB-1PCI levels in the cavernous sinus invasive adenomas were significantly higher than that in the cavernous sinus non-invasive adenomas(P0.01).Conclusions These findings suggest that the expression of the Ki-67antigen is related to proliferative potential, and can be used as a marker for determining the invasive ability and degrees in the pituitary adenomas.
