Title: An Analysis of Point of View in To the Lighthouse
Abstract: To the Lighthouse has generally been considered one of the best achievements of modernist fiction. In this novel,Woolf minimized the authoritative external narrator and employed the limited point of view. She gave the reader insight into the inner worlds of her characters by presenting their feelings, thoughts, memories, etc.Meanwhile,Woolf constantly shifted the viewpoints of different characters. In this paper, the authors focus their analysis on two aspects(limited point of view and multiple points of view) and attempt to analyze that Woolf employed experimental narrative techniques to achieve the core of her literary theory——subjectivity.
