Title: Classification and Aesthetic Appreciation Trend of Novels in Periodicals in the Late Qing Dynasty
Abstract: Novels in the late Qing Dynasty are classified according to both their styles and contents, which breaks through the long-lasting traditional literary classification of considering just the themes of novels. The controversial researches on periodical novels in the Ming and Qing Dynasties which reflect people's awareness of novel classification directly affect the prosperity of popular novels. Popular literature is a literary practice instead of a political symbol. The mass of the people oriented literary style promotes change of novels from traditional to modern.
