Title: Evaluation on the structure and function of common carotid arteries in middle-aged and young patients with hyperlipidemia by QIMT and QAS
Abstract: Objective To explore the relationship among common carotid arteries (CCA) intima-media thickness(IMT), vessel elasticity change, blood lipid and vessel elasticity in middle-aged and young patients with hyperlipidemia by quality intima-media thickness (QIMT) and quality arterial stiffness(QAS) techniques. Methods The IMT and vessel stiffness parameters were obtained in 70 patients with hyperlipidemia, including pulse wave velocity (PWV), stiffness parameter (β) and compliance coefficient (CC), the results were compared with normal control group. Results The IMT, PWV and β in hyperlipidemia group were higher than those in control group, CC was lower than that of control group, there was significant difference (P0.05).There was positive correlation between IMT,PWV,β and total cholesterol, r was 0.8102, 0.8401 and 0.9492(P0.001 ), there was negative correlation between CC and total cholesterol,r was -0.9391(P0.001). Conclusion QIMT and QAS could evaluate the changes of IMT and vessel elasticity of CCA in middle-aged and young patients with hyperlipidemia automatically real-timely and accurately. They can provide accurate quantitative index for clinical evaluation of arterial structure and function.
