Abstract:Objective To evaluate the usefulness of transcatheter angiography and embolization in diagnosis and treatment of gastrointestinal bleeding.Methods The positive angiographic signs were analyzed and sum...Objective To evaluate the usefulness of transcatheter angiography and embolization in diagnosis and treatment of gastrointestinal bleeding.Methods The positive angiographic signs were analyzed and summarized in 21 cases of gastrointestinal bleeding.Transcatheter embolization was performed in 6 cases.Results In these 21 cases with positive angiographic findings,arteriovenous malformation(AVM)or angiodysplasia were found in 9 cases,small bowel neoplasms in 3 cases,Dieulafoy disease in 2 cases,post-PTCD hemobilia in 2 cases,anastomotic bleeding in 1 case,ulcerative colitis in 1 case,Meckel's diverticulum in 1 case,polyarteritis nodosa in 1 case,pseudoaneurysm of the inferior pancreaticoduodenal artery in 1 case.Contrast extravasation was observed in 5 cases(23%).Bleeding was arrested in the 6 cases which transcatheter embolization was performed,no ischemic complications occurred during 1 to 13 month follow-up period.Conclusion Transcatheter angiography and embolization is a safe and effective way in diagnosis and treatment of gastrointestinal bleeding.Read More
