Title: Relationship between 24-hour average pulse pressure and left ventricular hypertrophy in essential hypertension
Abstract: Objective:To investigate the relationship between 24-hour average pulse pressure (PP) and left ventricular hypertrophy (LVH) in essential hypertension (EH).Methods:A total of 218 patients with EH were studied by Doppler echocardiography and ambulatory blood pressure monitoring. They were divided into groups with or without LVH, and high PP (PP≥60mm Hg) and low PP (PP60mm Hg) groups, respectively.Results:24-hour average PP was higher in patients with LVH than that without LVH (P0.05). LVH were more common in high PP group than in low PP group (P0.05). Conclusion:24-hour average PP is related to LVH occurrence in patients with EH. The increase of PP is a risk factor for cardiovascular diseases.
