Title: Synthesis of amyl propionate catalyzed by sodium bisulfate supported on activated carbon
Abstract: Amyl propionate was synthesized from propionic acid and 1-pentanol as raw materials in the presence of sodium bisulfate supported on activated carbon as the catalyst.Factors influencing the yield of product and optimum reaction condition were investigated.Experimental results showed that sodium bisulfate supported on activated carbon exhibited excellent catalytic activity for synthesis of amyl propionate.Amyl propionate yield of 94.87% was obtained under the optimal condition as follows∶ n(propionic acid) ∶ n(1-pentanol)=1∶ 2,catalyst dosage=1.2%(percentage of mass of total reactants),the water carrier cyclohexane dosage=10 mL,reaction for 30 min.
