Title: Expression and significance of Survivin protein and telomerase hTERT mRNA in renal cell carcinoma
Abstract: [Objective] To investigate the expression and significance of Survivin protein and telomerase hTERT mRNA in renal cell carcinoma. [Methods] The expression of Survivin protein and telomerase hTERT mRNA were detected respectively with immunohistochemistry and in situ hybridization in 46 cases of renal cell carcinoma and 15 cases normal controls. [Results] Survivin protein positive expression was found in 39 of 46 renal cell carcinomas (84.78%) and 1 case positive expression in are of the normal samples (6.67%), there was significant difference between the renal cell carcinoma and normal samples(P 0.01). hTERT mRNA positive expression was found in 41 of 46 renal cell carcinoma (89.13%) and in 1 of 15 normal samples (6.67%), there was significant difference between the renal cell carcinoma and normal samples(P 0.01). [Conclusions] Overexpression of Survivin protein and telomerase hTERT mRNA in renal cell carcinoma may play an important role in carcina genesis and development of renal cell carcinoma.
