Title: THE RELATION AND SIGNIFICANCE OF THE EXPRESSION OF VEGF TO ANGIOGENESIS IN BREAST CARCINOMA
Abstract: Objective:To investigate the relationship between vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF) and angiogenesis, between microvascular density(MVD) and lymph node metastasis and prognosis of breast carcinoma. Methods:The VEGF protein expressions and MVD were determined by immunohistochemical S P technique in the tissues of breast invasive ductal carcinoma of 40 cases. Results:MVD was significantly higher in VEGF positive breast carcinoma than in VEGF negative breast carcinoma, VEGF protein expression and MVD correlated significantly with lymph node metastasis. Conclusion:VEGF is highly related to promoting angiogenesis of breast carcinoma. The increase of VEGF and MVD may promote lymph node metastasis.MVD and VEGF were regarded as prodictors for the biological behariors of breast cavcinoma.
