Title: EFFICACY OF PULSED RADIOFREQUENCY ON CERVICAL 2~3 POSTERIOR MEDIAL BRANCHES IN TREATING MIGRAINE
Abstract: Objective: To observe the safety and efficacy of pulsed radiofrequency on C2~3 posterior medial branches in the treatment of migraine. Methods: Thirty migraineurs were randomly divided into treatment and control groups. Both patients and doctors were blinded at the time of treatment and follow-up. The patients in the treatment group underwent pulsed radiofrequency on C2~3 posterior medial branches for three times, at an interval of two weeks, the patients in control group had the same experience of procedure except the pulsed radiofrenquency. We evaluated the intensity and duration of the migraine and the dose of aspirin taken by these patients in the 1st, 2nd and 6th month after the intervention treatment. Results: The patients' pain intensity and the duration of migraine attack in the treatment group were significantly decreased at the time of 1st, 2nd and 6th month after treatment compared to that before treatment(P 0.01).The patients in the treatment group experienced significantly improvement compared to the control group(P 0.05). There was also a significant difference in the dose of analgesic between these two groups(P 0.05). No side effect was observed in either groups. Conclusion: Pulsed radiofrequency on C2~3 posterior medial branches in the treatment of migraine may reduce the pain intensity and duration as well as dosage of the analgesics without obvious adverse effect.
