Methods 220 cases of patients treat...Objective To explore the accuracy of Raypex 5 root tip locator and Propex Ⅱ root canal electrical measuring instrument in the root canal working length measurement. Methods 220 cases of patients treated with root canal therapy from January 2014 to February 2015 in Dapartment of Endodontics, Tangshan Union Medical College Hospital were selected, including 252 offending teeth and 384 root canals. They were divided into two groups with random number table method, with 192 root canals in each group. Raypex 5 root tip locator and Propex Ⅱ root canal electrical measuring instrument were used in root canal working length measurement. The corresponding data were recorded. According to the measured length, the needle was expanded into the root canal and dental X-ray was taken. The Cliniview5.0 system was used to observe and analysis the relationship between the location of root tip and the tip of file, the accuracy and root canal filling effect of two instruments were compared. Results There was no statistical significance of root canal filling situation between two groups(P 0.05); There was no statistical significance of root canal working length measurement accuracy between Propex Ⅱ root canal electrical measuring instrument(93.23%) and Raypex 5root tip locator(92.19%)(P 0.05). Conclusion Raypex 5 root tip locator and Propex Ⅱ root canal electrical measuring instrument are able to measure the root canal working length accuratel, which have high clinical value.Read More
