Title: Nursing Observation of Two Absorbable Hemostatic Agents Used in Orbital Surgery
Abstract: Objective To assess the hemostatic effect of two absorbable hemostatic materials (hemostatic gauze and gelatin sponge) in orbital surgery and discuss the nursing strategy. Methods 39 patients who used absorbable hemostatic gauze and 50 patients who used absorbable gelatin sponge for hemostasis in orbital surgery were retrospectively reviewed and the hemostatic effects of the two materials were compared. Results The success rate of hemostatic gauze was 100%, the mean hemostatic time was(9.5±2.1)min,and the mean blood loss was(112±13)ml.There were two patients who presented with foreign body reactions mimicking an abscess or tumor recurrence. The success rate of gelatin sponge was 88%, the mean hemostatic time was(21.1±4.9)min,and the mean blood loss was(392±61)ml. There were four patients who had abnormalities in visual monitoring. Conclusion Absorbable hemostatic gauze has better histocompatibility, and is much safer, convenient and effective for local hemostasis in orbital surgery. It is convenient for postoperative nursing care.
