Title: Leaching of Low Grade Zinc Oxide Ore in NH_3-NH_4Cl-H_2O System for Production of Electrolytic Zinc
Abstract: The leaching-elcetrowinning process in the NH_3-NH_4Cl-H_2O system has been proposed for treatment of low grade zinc oxide ore in this paper.Zinc in oxide ore was leached into solution in the form of Zn(NH_3)_i~(2+),and the impurities of As,Sb,Fe,SO_4~(2-)and CO_3~(2-)in leaching solution were removed in the sequent purification stage.Under the optimum conditions, the leaching rate of zinc reached 88.9%.The content of As,Sb and Fe in leaching solution was less than 0.25 mg/L,respectively,and CO_3~(2-)and SO_4~(2-)could be removed completely with the addition of BaCl_2 and CaCl_2.After cementation with zinc powder, the elecrtowinning of zinc was carried out in the NH_3-NH_4Cl-H_2O system. The content of Zn in deposited zinc strip was higher than 99.999%.The current efficiency was 96.35%,and electricity consumption was 2 502 kW.h/t.Ammonia was added into the spent electrolyte, which would be recycled back to leaching stage.
