Title: Calculating the photonic band gap structure of two-dimensional photonic crystal using the plane wave expansion method
Abstract: Using the plane wave expansion method(PWM),we calculate the photonic band gap(PBG) structure of two dimensional photonic crystal(PC) with square lattice and triangular lattice.Both the square lattice PCs and triangular lattice PCs consist of air rod of circular cross section.It is shown that these PCs have PBG for TE and TM modes separately and exist absolute PBG for both TE and TM modes in some condition.The absolute PBG width of triangular lattice PCs is larger than square lattice PCs.
