Title: Effect of Different Treatments on Seed Germination Rate of Peach
Abstract: In order to improve the seed germination rate of peach hybrid, three peach cultivars with different maturation were applied to study the factors that affected the seed germination. The results showed that the ratio of dry weight to fresh weight of peach seed was constantly increased with the extending of fruit growth period.Japan 86,an early-ripening and short growth period variety, could not germinate in any treatments. For moderately-mature cultivar Ba 9 and lately-mature cultivar Fenghuangshuimi, when the fruit maturity rate increased and low temperature treatment time prolonged, their seed germination rates were increased continuously, and the highest germination rate and normal seedling rate could reach to 100%.All results indicated that different cultivars, fruit growth period, ratio of dry seed weight to fresh seed weight, water content in seed and low temperature treatment time all could affect the seed germination and plantlet growth.
