Title: Outbreaks of infectious diseases in schools and kindergartens of Shenzhen City in 2010
Abstract: Objective To understand the epidemic characteristics of infectious disease outbreaks in schools and kindergartens of Shenzhen City in 2010.Methods The descriptive epidemiological method was used to analyze the epidemic characteristics of infectious disease outbreaks in schools and kindergartens of Shenzhen City in 2010.Results In 2010,there were 263 cases of infectious disease outbreaks in schools and kindergartens.Most of the outbreaks took place in primary schools,accounting for 43.4%.There were more cases of outbreaks which occurred in March,April and September,accounting for 70% of the total number of cases.Most of the outbreaks were Category B,Category C and other non-legal infectious disease outbreaks,and the major types of diseases were influenza,hand,foot and mouth disease and acute hemorrhagic conjunctivitis.Among the 263 cases of outbreaks,60.8% were intestinal infectious disease outbreaks and 39.2% were respiratory infectious disease outbreaks.Totally 2 610 patients were infected and 39 149 people were involved,and the incidence was 6.7%.Conclusions Most of the infectious diseases of the outbreaks in Shenzhen schools and kindergartens were Category B infectious diseases,the major routes of transmission were through intestinal tract and respiratory tract.The most vulnerable population was kids and pupils.
