Title: Clinical analysis of video-assisted thoracic surgery versus traditional thoracotomy for non-small cell lung cancer
Abstract: Objective To investigate the advantages of video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery(VATS) compared with conventional thoracotomy in the treatment of non-small cell lung cancer(NSCLC).Methods Eighty cases with NSCLC were collected and divided into VATS group(n = 40,undergone complete video-assisted thoracoscopic pneumonectomy) and S group(n = 40,undergone traditional open pneumonectomy). The indexes of patients in the two groups were compared after operation. Results Compared with S group, the mean operative time was longer, the bleeding loss, chest tube lien time, postoperative pain time were shorter in VATS group(P 0.01).Besides,the number of lymph node dissection was not significantly different between the two groups(P 0.05).Pain time of patients in S group was longer than those in VATS group(P 0.05).Levels of postoperative serum CRP of patients in the two groups were both higher than those before operation(P 0.05),and levels of serum CRP of patients in VATS group on the first and fifth day after operation were markedly lower than those at the same time point in S group(P 0.05).Conclusion VATS can be recommended as a treatment of lung cancer.
