Using this installation, the experimental study was carried out on the effect of gas pressure as well as the starting sequence of gas valve and screw on the realization of GSE. Moreover, the experimental study was carried out on the effect of the gas assistance on the die pressure drop, die swell, surface quality of the extrudate and extrusion flow rate. The research results were compared with those of conventional extrusion and numerical simulation. comparison and analysis indicate that if gas pressure is too low the GSE will be instable, but if too high the surface quality of extrudate will be not good, starting the gas valve first and then starting the screw GSE will can be realized easily, GSE can effectively eliminate the die swell, reduce the die pressure drop, improve the surface quality of extrudate and raise the extrusion flow rate.Read More
