Title: Bonding strength of different bonding systems to two types of veneer materials in vitro
Abstract: Objective: To study the bonding strengths of three types of bonding systems to two kinds of veneer materials. Methods: Standard specimens of IPS e.max cast procelain and CERAMAG polymerized procelain were prepared and cemented with three bonding systems(Panavia F,Variolink Veneer and Rely X Veneer) respectively. Then each group was subdivided into 2 subgroups(n=8) in which the specimens were treated by 24-hour immersion in 37 ℃ water and thermocycling of 5 000 cycles respectively.Shear bond strength was determined on an universal testing machine.Fracture mode analysis was performed using SEM.Results: Variolink Veneer showed the greatest bonding strength among the three bonding systems after 24-hour immersion in 37 ℃ water or thermocycling of 5 000 cycles in the groups of IPS e.max and CERAMAGE(P0.05).The bond strength of all groups decreased notably after thermocycling except bonding with Panavia F.Conclusion: The bond strength of Variolink Veneer bonding system is higher than that of Panavia F and Rely X Veneer for the IPS e.max Press cast procelain and CERAMAGE polymerized procelain.
