Title: MR diffusion-weighted imaging in differentiating simple vertebral compressions with pathologic fractures
Abstract: Objective:To investigate the value in differentiating simple vertebral compression with pathologic fracture.Methods:Forty three patients with 79 vertebral fractures underwent routine MRI scanning and DWI.It included 23 patients with 34 simple vertebral compressions and 20 patients with 45 pathological fractures.The signal feature of normal and abnormal vertebra were analyzed,the ADC values were measured,then the difference of ADC values among the groups of simple vertebral compression,pathologic fracture and normal control were analyzed.Results:The ADC values of simple compression,pathologic fracture and normal vertebral bodies were(2.39±0.37)×10-3 mm2/s,(1.47±0.42)×10-3 mm2/s and(0.32±0.11)×10-3 mm2/s respectively.The differences among three groups were significant(P0.05).Conclusion:DWI and the calculation of ADC value have important value in differential diagnosis of simple vertebral compression and pathologic fracture.
