Title: Application of three long protocols of triptorelin in IVF-ET: a comparative study.
Abstract: Objective To compare the efficacy of three long protocols of triptorelin in in vitro fertilization-embryo transfer(IVF-ET) and intracytoplasmic sperm injection(ICSI).Methods Data of 138 IVF-ET/ ICSI cycles of patients were retrospectively analyzed and divided into three groups : Group A : long protocol with 0.03mg short-acting triptorelin(12 cycles),Group B : long protocol with 0.05mg short-acting triptorelin(73 cycles) and Group C: long protocol with 1.25mg long-acting triptorelin(53 cycles).Dose of Gn,the number of ova retrieved, fertilization rate, high quality embryos rate, implantation rate and clinical pregnancy rate were compared respectively. Results Three cases in group A and one case in group B were cancelled due to invalid pituitary down-regulation,while there were no cancelled cycles in group C because of effective down-regulation.There were no differences in average age, infertility duration, body mass index and basal endocrine hormone(P0.05) in the three groups;and premature LH surge was suppressed in all groups. Also there were no statistically difference in dose of Gn,fertilization rate, cleavage rate, high quality embryos rate, implantation rate, clinical pregnancy rate and miscarriage rate in the three groups;however, the amount of ova retrieved in group C was significantly higer than that in group A and B(P0.05).Conclusion Long protocol by 0.05mg short-acting triptorelin and long protocol by 1.25mg long-acting triptorelin are all effective methods for pituitary down-regulation and also contribute to a satisfactory outcome in assisted reproductive technology.
