Title: Clinicopathological features of thyroid follicular carcinoma-like renal cell carcinoma
Abstract: Objective To study the clinicopathological features and differential diagnosis of thyroid follicular carcinoma-like renal carcinoma. Methods The clinical, histological and immunohistochemical features of a thyroid follicular carcinoma-ike renal carcinoma were collected and analyzed. Results Grossly, the resected kidney contained a poorly defined nodular tumor measuring 10cm×8 cm×6cm.The mass was protruding into the pelvic cavity with areas of yellowish geographic necrosis and grayish red hemorrhage.Histologically, the tumor showed follicular architectures with inspissated colloid-like material in their lumina.Immunohistochemically, the tumor cells showed intensive staining for EMA,vimentin and CK7,focal positive for CD10,CD15 and CD99,but not reactive to thyroid transcription factor-1,thyroglobulin,RCC,CD117,WT-1,CgA and Syn. Conclusion The thyroid follicular carcinoma-like renal carcinoma is a rare renal tumor, which has not been classified into a known subtype of renal cell carcinoma.Realization of this tumor is of importance to avoid misdiagnosis.
