Title: ANALYSIS OF THE HIGH RISK AGE GROUP OF HEROIN ABUSE
Abstract: Objective: To study the age of heroin addicts at initial use of heroin and find out the high-risk age of drug abuse. Methods: The medical records of 1000 heroin dependent patients who undertook voluntary detoxification in Wuhan Drug Dependent Treatment Center were analyzed. Results:(1) The ratio of male and female of heroin use was 3.26∶1;(2) 72.60% of the heroin dependent patients started drug use at the age of 20-29 a; the most dangerous age of drug abuse was 25-27 a (42.36%) for male and 22-24 a (32.76%) for female; (3) The average age of initial use of male and female was 27.13 a±s 4.95 a and 25.13 a±s 5.08 a, respectively, showing a significant difference (P0.01). Conclusion: Youngsters are the high-risk group of heroin abuse. Supervision, punishment and preventive education should be combined in the control of drug abuse.
