Title: Prevalence of rotavirus infections in 456 children with diarrhea
Abstract: OBJECTIVE To understand the relationship between rotavirus and the diarrhea in children so as to provide evidence for the prevention and treatment of diarrhea in the children.METHODS The colloidal gold method was employed to perform the rapid test of the group A rotavirus in feces samples obtained from 456 children with diarrhea who were enrolled the hospital from from Jan.2010 to Jan.2012.RESULTS The positive rate of the type A rotavirus of all the patients was 41.7%,the positive rate of the less than one year old group was 44.4%,the 1-3 years old group 66.6%.Of all the children infected with the type A rotavirus,the patients aged less than one year old accounted for 42.1%,the patients aged between one year and there years old 52.6%,and the patients of the two age groups accounted for over 94.7%.The incidence of the infections was related to the season changing,with its peak in the autumn and winter.CONCLUSION The prevalence of the rotavirus infections in the children with diarrhea is consistent to epidemiological data both at home and abroad,thus providing reliable evidence for the prevention and control of diarrhea in the children.
