Title: Study on the Synthesis of 3-formyl-4-hydroxyl benzoic Acid
Abstract: 3-formyl-4-hydroxyl benzoic acid was synthesized from hydroxybenzoic acid and chloroform using triethyl ammonium chloride as phase transfer catalyst and using sodium hydroxide solution as solvent. The products were identified by elemental analysis and IR.By a single factor test, effects of the reactant ratios, solvent(sodium hydroxide) concentration, reaction temperature and reaction time, etc.,were studied.Under the optimal reaction conditions,i.e.,n(hydroxybenzoic acid): n(chloroform)= 1 ∶ 2.4,sodium hydroxide 35%,reaction temperature 65℃ and reaction time 30min,the yield of3-formyl-4-hydroxyl benzoic acid reached 55.7%.
