Title: Epidemiological characteristics of three outbreaks of novel influenza A(H1N1) in school
Abstract: Objective To analyze epidemiological characteristics of three novel influenza(A/H1N1) outbreaks on September,2009 in schools in Shandong province and to provide evidence for prevention and control of the epidemic.Methods Epidemiological history and clinical symptoms of laboratory-confirmed influeza(A/H1N1) cases were collected with epidemiological investigation.Surveillance data were input to the national information management system for influenza(A/H1N1) in time.A database was established and statistical analysis was carried out with SAS.Results The results showed that 85 novel influenza(A/H1N1) cases were confirmed by laboratory tests during the three influenza outbreaks.The attack rates of the three schools were 0.99% in university A,6.29% in school B,0.62% of school C,respectively,with significantly differences(χ2=95.54,P0.001).School C had the shortest epidemiological period because it was closed as soon as the index case was confirmed and the cases were under strictly management.Conclusion It is significantly important to prevent novel influenza(A/H1N1) in schools.More attention shoold be paid to the prevention and control of novel influenza(A/H1N1) in school.
