Abstract:Objective To study the expression and clinical significance of proliferating cell nuclear antigen(PCNA) and p53 protein in colorectal carcinoma.Methods The expression of p53 protein and PCNA was inves...Objective To study the expression and clinical significance of proliferating cell nuclear antigen(PCNA) and p53 protein in colorectal carcinoma.Methods The expression of p53 protein and PCNA was investigated in 60 cases of colorectal carcinoma using S-P immunohistochemical method.Results The positive expression of p53 was 63.3%,PCNA proliferative index was 78.2±24.5%.The cell proliferative index in p53-positive cases was 83.1%±18.6%,significantly higher than that in p53-negative cases(61.2±11.7)%(P0.01).Both the positive rates of p53 expression and PCNA proliferative index were increased with rising of pathological grades,but they showed a negative correlation with prognosis.Conclusion It may be useful to examine p53 protein and PCNA for diagnosis,pathological grades and prognosis of colorectalcarcinoma.Read More
